Giving operators clear, real-time oversight and intuitive control without overwhelming them. How do we ensure these mechanical colleagues truly assist human workflows, rather than complicate them?

The Solution: Intuitive Control, Real-Time Insights
Liz Cho's UX design skills shine in how the Catering Robot prototype simplifies complex multi-robot management. The core of this solution lies in two interconnected interfaces: a Management App and the Robot's built-in UI. These interfaces work in harmony through ProtoPie Connect, providing operators with seamless control and crucial real-time feedback.
1. The Central Command: Your Management App

Think of the Management App as your mission control for the entire robot fleet. It provides a comprehensive yet uncluttered overview of every robot's status and location.
- At-a-Glance Status: Each "Robot Card" clearly displays the individual robot's current state – whether it's "On Duty," "Returning," or serving a specific table (e.g., "Table 1"). Battery levels are also visible, ensuring you're never caught off guard.
- Dynamic Floor Plan: A live floor plan visually tracks the real-time position of each robot, allowing operators to quickly assess their locations relative to tables and the charging station.

- Effortless Task Assignment: With a tap, operators can assign a robot to a specific table. The app sends a "go to table" command, and the robot springs into action, its movement updated instantly on the floor plan.

- Smart Notifications: A built-in notification system alerts operators when a customer at a specific table rings for service, indicating which robot is needed. This allows for immediate dispatch or re-routing.

Fleet Retrieval: When the day is done, or robots need recharging, a single "Retrieve All" button (as shown in the GIF below) sends all robots back to their charging station efficiently.

2. On-Robot Interaction: The Built-in UI
Not every interaction needs to go through the central app. For on-the-spot adjustments or direct tasking, each Catering Robot is equipped with an intuitive built-in screen.
- Direct Destination Setting: Staff can directly select a table number on the robot's screen and hit "set" to dispatch it to a specific location. This provides an immediate, localized control option.
- Real-time Robot Status: The robot's own screen provides instant feedback, displaying its current status and confirming arrival. Once a task is "completed," the robot is ready for its next assignment.
- Dynamic Content Display: Beyond delivery, the robot's screen can dynamically display promotions or special offers (like "Hawaiian Pizza" or "SNS Promotions" as seen in the demo video), turning it into a mobile marketing tool.
