ProtoPie Connect now supports Haptics (for Windows), a plugin that lets you add and test real haptic feedback in your prototypes using the Windows Haptics API.
Instead of writing code or manually configuring device specifications, you can select a waveform and adjust parameters such as intensity, duration, count, and interval directly in ProtoPie Connect.

Prototype the feel, not just the interaction
Haptics can be an important part of how an interaction feels, but it’s often difficult to test early in the design process. With the Haptics (for Windows) plugin, you can explore those physical interactions alongside your prototype.
You can:
Customize haptic feedback visually — Configure waveforms and parameters directly in the plugin UI, without writing code.
Test on supported Windows haptic devices — Connect a supported device and immediately feel how different feedback patterns perform.
Validate earlier — Test haptic responses directly in Connect before engineering implementation or hardware integration.
What you can build with the Haptics (for Windows) plugin
The Haptics (for Windows) Connect plugin can be used to prototype experiences where physical feedback is part of the interaction, such as:
Productivity devices — Explore tactile feedback for buttons, controls, and cursor interactions.
Automotive interfaces — Prototype tactile responses for controls and touch interactions.
Hardware and IoT experiences — Test how physical feedback can reinforce interactions between software and connected devices.
Accessibility and feedback patterns — Experiment with tactile cues as an additional way to communicate interaction states.

The plugin uses the Windows Haptics API, allowing ProtoPie prototypes to interact with supported Windows haptic devices without requiring custom device-specific configurations.
To get started, you’ll need a compatible Windows 11 system and a supported haptic device. See the Haptics (for Windows) documentation for setup requirements and supported devices.
