  • I cannot connect ProtoPie Player on my smart device to ProtoPie Studio through USB. What should I do?

If you are experiencing difficulties connecting ProtoPie Player on your smart device to ProtoPie Studio through USB, please verify the following:

    1. For iOS devices, ensure that your Lightning-to-USB cable is Apple's MFI certified. This certification is necessary for a stable connection.
    2. For Android devices, ensure that USB Debugging is enabled on your device. USB Debugging allows the device to communicate with ProtoPie Studio via USB. To learn more about USB Debugging and how to enable it, please refer to the documentation provided by your device manufacturer.
    3. If you need to connect a Windows computer to iOS devices, make sure that iTunes is installed on your computer to establish the USB connection.
    4. If the issue persists, try rebooting your smart device and then attempt to connect again. Sometimes, a simple device restart can resolve connection problems.

If the problem persists, please don't hesitate to contact us for further assistance. Our support team is ready to help you troubleshoot any connection issues you may be encountering!

  • I can't connect ProtoPie Player to ProtoPie Studio wirelessly. What to do?

Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot connection issues between ProtoPie Player and ProtoPie Studio:

    • Ensure that your computer and smart device are connected to the same network and that the connection is stable.
    • Double-check that the IP address displayed in ProtoPie Studio on your computer matches the one shown in ProtoPie Player on your smart device (e.g., 172.16.3.169).

If you're still unable to connect ProtoPie Player and ProtoPie Studio, your network might have specific security limitations, or the IP addresses don't match, despite being on the same network.

As an alternative, you can try using a different connection (e.g., mobile hotspot) or connect your prototypes using a USB cable instead.

  • ProtoPie Player crashes while loading or running my prototype, what should I do?

If you encounter crashes while loading or running your prototype in ProtoPie Player, please follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Reboot your smart device: Often, this simple step can resolve temporary memory-related issues. After rebooting, try running your prototype again.
    2. Close unnecessary apps: Make sure to close any unnecessary apps before launching ProtoPie Player to free up memory resources.
    3. Reinstall ProtoPie Player: If the crashes persist, try deleting the ProtoPie Player app from your device and reinstalling it.
    4. Examine your Pie file: If the issue persists even after reinstalling ProtoPie Player, it's possible that specific assets or interactions in your prototype are causing the crashes. In such cases, our team would need to examine the prototype file to identify and address the problem. Please contact us using the Contact Us form and provide us with the details of your issue and the prototype file. We will be happy to provide further assistance!
  • Voice prototyping does not work in my prototype; what should I do?

ProtoPie's voice prototyping features include speech-to-text (STT) and text-to-speech (TTS).

    1. Speech-to-Text

By default, voice commands are not detected in prototypes. To enable speech-to-text interactions, use the Listen response.

To ensure the best performance and accuracy of voice interactions, here are some helpful tips:

    • Stay close to the microphone: Position yourself near the microphone to capture your voice clearly and accurately.
    • Minimize background noise: Find a quiet environment or reduce background noise to improve the recognition of your voice commands.
    • Be articulate: Speak clearly and enunciate your words to enhance voice recognition accuracy.

Speech-to-text interactions are fully supported in the following parts of our ecosystem:

    • Preview window of ProtoPie Studio
    • ProtoPie Player
    • ProtoPie Cloud
      • Google Chrome on desktop
      • Google Chrome on Android

    2. Text-to-Speech

The Speak response allows your prototype to "speak" by reading text aloud, as-is, or via a formula. Make sure to correctly enter the text (directly or via a formula) that needs to be read out loud using the Speak response.

Text-to-speech interactions are fully supported in the following parts of our ecosystem:

    • Preview window of ProtoPie Studio
    • ProtoPie Player
